Wish List

There are many things that the school needs that would enhance the students’ quality of life, but the overwhelming necessity is food with the second priority being Braille supplies.

And of course, providing sports equipment and expanding the playground is always part of our wish list to enable the children to experience fun and exercise.

Sample needs and estimated costs:
  • A bag of maize meal for porridge costs $10 U.S. a bag. At 2 bags a day = $600 U.S. a month
  • Monthly cost to feed the children their basic diet of rice, maize meal, bread and beans = $3,800 U.S. (approx. $1 U.S. per day per child) If you wish, you can sponsor the food to feed one student for $30 U.S. per month.
  • For $10.00 U.S. a day, the children can be fed vegetables at their noon and evening meal to provide a healthier, more balanced diet.  Currently, vegetables are considered a treat and only available when grown at the school.  However, the school's vegetable garden is totally dependent on the weather and the limited growing season.
    • Braille paper 100 reams at $30 U.S. each = $3,000 U.S.
    • Perkins Braillers at $750 U.S. each (these resemble typewriters but use Braille imprints for letters)
    • Purchase additional livestock to enable a continuous supply of food for the students.  25 point of lay chickens cost $150 U.S.

If you see a need or have a particular interest, donors can designate where their funds are directed.  We will update you and/or your organization with photos of how your donation made a difference.
